The Theme

Maimonides one of the most important Jewish philosophers during the Middle Ages, a scientist, a physician, a researcher and a leader.

Due to his progressive and multicultural conception of combining science and religion together, he was able to bring modernity to the heart of the Jewish tradition by making bold rulings.

The collection presents the renaissance of Judaism during the Maimonides period and its effects on the Jewish community until this day.

The modernization processes in the ancient world, that were made by the combination of religion and science, has led to combinations such as the grandeur of Orientalism, alongside the modesty of the human psyche.

History of creation

In the collection I chose to represent elements of traditional oriental clothing that can be found in the Jewish communities of North Africa.

I drew the style of decoration and painting from pages of writings made at the time: not only text, but also decorated letters with exemplary and aesthetic editing that glorifies the scriptures.
